Bus & Coach Accidents

We handle a number of compensation cases every year on behalf of passengers injured in bus and coach accidents.

The accident cases we have dealt with recently have included:

  • Brake failure on a steep descent causing a coach to leave the road and overturn
  • Another vehicle causing the bus driver to have to take emergency avoiding action, throwing a passenger to the floor
  • Moving off before a passenger has safely stepped off the bus
  • Driver error

The Importance of Early Investigation

In order to obtain compensation for a passenger injured in a bus/coach crash we need to understand how the accident happened. It is important that the correct enquiries are made at an early stage. These can include:

  • Obtaining CCTV footage (many public service vehicles are now fitted with internal and external CCTV cameras. The information gleaned from the CCTV pictures can often be of significant value).
  • Applying to the police or VOSA (the Vehicle Operator Services Agency) for the result of any investigations carried out by them.
  • Service and maintenance records.
  • Driver logs and licenses.
  • Witness statements from fellow passengers who may have a clearer idea of how the bus accident happened.

Choosing The Right Solicitor

After the shock of having been involved in a bus or coach accident you will need the reassurance that your claim for compensation is in safe hands. That’s where Marrons can help. Remember we are personal injury specialists, it’s the only type of legal work that we do. We are not a large firm. The advantage of that is we can offer a level of personal service that other firms cannot. For example, our solicitors try to take all client calls themselves, we don’t employ secretaries. We are also happy to arrange to see you in your own home, if your injuries mean you can’t get in to see us.

If you have been injured in a bus or coach accident please do call so we can explain in more detail how we can assist.
